Metadata of Teams Meeting Recording .mp4 file

Hi Team,

Is there any way Power BI/Powershell can export .mp4 file-related data from OneDrive for business and SharePoint Online so as to look at the metadata of the Teams Meeting Recording .mp4 files which can be differentiated from non Teams Meeting recording files? Thanks in advance!

Regards
REP

Hello @REP-3523 ,

Welcome to Q&A Forum!

According to my research and testing, you can clearly distinguish between .mp4 files and Teams meeting recording files without using PowerShell commands.

For non-Channel meetings, the recording is stored in a folder named Recordings that's at the top level of the OneDrive for Business that belongs to the person who started the meeting recording.

  • Example: Recorder's OneDrive for Business/Recordings

For Channel meetings, the recording is stored in the Teams site documentation library in a folder named Recordings.

  • Example: Teams name - Channel name/Documents/Recordings

For more information, please see "Use OneDrive for Business and SharePoint or Stream for meeting recordings" article.

Thanks,
Echo Du

thanks for your response. There are users who put non Teams meeting recordings in One drive for business and Sharepoint Online under the Recording folder. So how can we differentiate these non Teams meeting recording files from Teams meeting recording ones?

Hi @REP-3523 ,

Thanks for you reply.

1.Teams meeting recordings' [Sharing] column is automatically displayed as Shared (share with people who joined in this meeting), and (non Teams meeting recordings) .mp4 files are Private by default unless you specify whom to share to.

2.Teams meeting recordings will have the following information prompt, but the .mp4 file does not.

@EchoDu-MSFT thanks for your response! Is there a way we can differentiate Teams Meeting Recording files and personal .mp3 file in sharepoint?

Hi @REP-3523 ,

Personal .mp3 files? Not personal .mp4 files?

As I said before, the differences between the Teams Meeting Recording files and personal .mp4 file are as follows:

1.Storage location

Teams Meeting Recording files:

  • For non-Channel meetings, the recording is stored in a folder named Recordings that's at the top level of the OneDrive for Business that belongs to the person who started the meeting recording. Example: recorder's OneDrive for Business/Recordings

  • For Channel meetings, the recording is stored in the Teams site documentation library in a folder named Recordings. Example: Teams name - Channel name/Documents/Recordings

Personal .mp4 files can be stored in any library in SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business.

2.The Teams Meeting Recording files will be automatically shared with the participants

3.The Teams Meeting Recording files' Name including "Meeting Recording" characters

4.The Teams Meeting Recording files will have the following display content:
