APK deployment via Intune.

Dear Community Experts,

I am not able to deploy a custom android apk(intune wrapped) to my android device using intune company portal.

  • I have enrolled my device to company portal and i am able to list the device under android devices. but i am not able to assign the app to enrolled devices or users.

  • I am using trial verison could this be the case?

  • I have created app configuration and protection policies as well.

Custom APK deployment is not supported by Google on Android Enterprise and thus Intune cannot do this. You must publish your APK to the Managed Google Play store: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/apps/apps-add-android-for-workstore.

Hi, I have a similar issue.
We have supplied a client with a signed APK app and the are trying to deploy using intune. From your answer, it seems it like this is not possible. Can you point me in the right direction to prepare the APK to be used by intune ?
Thanks
Andy

As noted, this isn't specifically related to Intune and I've linked to the official docs (as has @LuDaiMSFT-0289) that describes what must be done.

@RYavuzDiler-4823 Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

For this issue, we appreciate your help to clear something:
1.What method did you use to enroll the Android device? Android Administrator or Android Enterprise? As Jason said, add LOB apps directly is only supported in Android Administrator devices.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/deployment-guide-platform-android#deploy-apps

2.From the screen shots, it seems that the device didn't get the LOB app. If it is a Android Administrator device, it is suggested to try to only deployed to a user group and sync the Android device. Then check if the app is installed and check the app status in intune portal.

If there is anything update, feel free to let us know.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.

I have used Android Administrator method. At first i was able to list the application under device properties and installation status was "waiting for installation".

Now i am not able to assign the app to any device so i am also not able to see the installation status.

Now i am not able to assign the app to any device

What exactly does this mean? Is the option not available in the console? Does it cause an error to happen? Something else?

Hello Jason,

Thank you for your reply.

I have enrolled my devices in Device Administrator mode.. I used to be able to upload my APK and assign it to the devices(Managed Android line-of-business app). and i was able to see the installation status even though it was stuck in "Waiting for install status"
But now i am only able to assign "Built-In Android app" and "Android store app", yet i am not able to install those apps as well.

i am attaching more screenshots hoping would explain better.127007-0827-01.jpg126960-0827-02.jpg127061-0827-03.jpg
