SharePoint 2019 Disaster recovery planning

Hi All,

We have 2 SharePoint farms one for primary site and the other one for DR site. Now the question is regarding the database of SharePoint (SharePoint_Config). We have 2 SP Config databases "SharePoint_Config" which is a part of "availability databases" and "DRSP_config" which is not a part of availablity databases

If we will failover from primary SP farm to DR SP farm then these 2 databases will be present both at same time. Doest it make any impact on working of SP that both Config databases are present at same time.

Thanks

Hello @syedashrafali-6328 ,

According to my research, I suggest you better not to have two Config Databases with the same name.

SharePoint_Config : Default database name when it is installed with the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard

To restore the configuration settings, you must use the existing configuration database or manually create a new database and restore the configuration to that database. For more information about how to restore the farm configuration, see Restore farm configurations in SharePoint Server.

Thanks,
Echo Du

Thanks. I already have a different name of sharepoint config database for DR farm.

My question is that i have included sharepoint config database of production site in AG as we have 2 SQL servers in production site farm so that in case one of SQL is down all the databases will be automatically failover to secondary SQL.

Then after some time, we established DR SharePoint farm having DR SQL as well with manual failover setting in the AG. Now in case of manual failover to DR farm the SharePoint config database will also be switched DR SQL which already have its own SharePoint config database.

II want to avoid this situation because as per my knowledge one farm can only have one sharepoint config database.

Thanks
