Edge file download progress location - top right or bottom left

Hi

I notice that where Edge (Chromium) shows file download information / progress seems to vary from computer to computer.

Some show it as Chrome does down bottom left corner, but now some seem to be showing it in top right in the toolbar.

I have compared two different computers that do it differently and they are both running same version of Windows 10, and both running exactly same version of Edge.

Cannot see anything in settings about changing it.

So why the difference?

    Hi @Darren Rose

The download showing in the top right is the new download experience which is introduced to Edge early this year. You can refer to this article for more information. So, by default, the download information is showing in the top right in the latest version of Edge.

For the second situation you mention, showing download information in the bottom, we need to make some changes to Edge. You can refer to this article for the way to make the download information showing in the bottom in Edge. You can also follow the steps below:

    1. Right click Microsoft Edge shortcut in desktop then click Properties.
    2. In the Microsoft Edge Properties window, add a space at the end of the Target field, then add this flag --disable-features=msDownloadsHub.
    3. Click Apply, OK to save the changes.

Now you can double-click the Microsoft Edge shortcut then test downloading. You'll find that the download information is in the bottom now.

Besides, for the Edge browser you show in the second image, you can navigate to this url edge://version/ in Edge to make a check. I think you can find this flag --disable-features=msDownloadsHub in Command-line:

    Hi

Both computers running exactly the same version - 92.0.902.78

Neither computer has the flag you mention set - but still they behave in a different way - I have literally dozens of computers I can access which have same version but are behaving differently

I realized it was the new download experience, the issue is why on some computers including my own running Windows 11 preview does it still download down bottom left corner when latest Edge is installed and flag is NOT set

    Hi @Darren Rose

It's so strange that some of the Edge browsers don't have this feature on your machines. I test some machines I can access, all of them have the top right download experience in Edge browsers.

If you want to have the top right download experience on your machines, you can try to add this flag --enable-features=msDownloadsHub to the end of the Target of your Edge shortcut.

You can also provide feedback about this issue to Edge team by pressing Alt+Shift+I in Edge. They'll improve the product continuously according to the feedbacks. Thanks for your understanding.
