Exchange 2016/2019 coexistence

Hello

does the coexistence between Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 works in the same (seamless) way like between 2013 and 2016?
In different words, is Exchange 2016 able to proxy client traffic to Exchange 2019 and wise-versa, or is it necessary to switch the client traffic to Exchange 2019 which will then point it to 2016 servers for not yet migrated mailboxes.

Thanks!

Hi @VclavPernica-8100

Yes, they are basically the same.

According to the "note" in the official blog "Client Connectivity in an Exchange 2016 Coexistence Environment with Exchange 2013", "Exchange 2019 behavior is the same as Exchange 2016 behavior".

And according to this document, "Client connectivity in Exchange 2016 and Exchange 2019 is similar to Exchange 2013":

But in both scenarios, we would need to move the host names for OWA, Autodiscover, and so on, from the existing Exchange servers to the new Exchange server. After that, when a user's mailbox is still hosted on the legacy Exchange server, the new Exchange server will automatically proxy the request and communication to the previous version of Exchange servers.
