SQL server upgrade 2014 to 2017

To Whom it May Concern

I had tried to upgrade our DB instances with SQL Server from 2014 to 2017. There are total three different SQL DB instances, UAT, TEST and PRODUCATION; installed on the same machine. Months ago I had completed upgrading two instances. As the result, there are having two DB instances with SQL server 2017 and one DB instance on SQL server 2014. Today, I tried to upgrade the last one PRODUCTION SQL server 2014 to 2017 by using SQL Server Installation Center.

Followed the same steps as before, I run SQL Server Installation Center, clicked Installation from the right panel, then, clicked select Upgrade from a previous version of SQL Server.

However, this time I run into different outlook and could not be continue to upgrade this instance to SQL 2017. Attach was the screenshot; please advise.

Hi @JoannLiao-4647,

This issue may because the SQL Server Installation Center cannot find media, this issue may occur when you open the Installation Center directly, and you need to point to the installation media.

please make sure to mount the media, or extract the SQL Server 2017 installation file to a folder, and Run as administrator, i.e., you need to start SQL Server 2017 setup.exe from installation media, and then continue to the next step.

if it does not work, please try to download the SQL Server 2017 again from official website.
