If we remove from In-place hold while being part of retention policy ,will it still retain the data. And ,there will not be any data loss of such mailboxes.

You need to apply retention policy or hold before items be deleted. So, if you remove hold from this mailbox, items may be deleted. I would suggest you recover data from hold back to mailbox, then remove hold from this mailbox. You can also export data from this mailbox for backup.

If you are still worried about data loss, you could also double confirm with the Office 365 team.

Once we ensure all mailboxes currently in a In-place hold policy “LegalHold” are part of one or the other “O365 Retention Policy” ,it’s safe to disable the complete hold to free all users from it. (most of them are user mail boxes few of them are shared mailboxes)

In-Place Hold is applied on all mailboxes, you can only choose which items to hold by using query parameters, but cannot choose which mailbox is hold.
