Office 2019 - Will the Perpetual ProPlus version of office ever update beyond 1808? When?

According to this document, the Perpetually licensed VLK version of Office 2019 is on version 1808, and has been for years now. I have an ongoing issue with using setup.exe from the Office Deployment Tool where it tells me that I must be on version 1902 or newer. Obviously since 1808 is the highest possible version of the Perpetual channel of Office 2019, this is not possible.

So I am wondering if there is a timeline for when, or if, the perpetual channel of Office 2019 will be updated beyond 1808. Thanks!

As this is my first post into "docs.microsoft.com"... some feedback. This new technet is not as good as the previous. How can I set my two links to "open in new tab" like I could back on Technet? How can I define which forum I want it to go into? Just with the tags? office-deployment and office-itpro?

Why are we posting on the "docs" subdomain? That's something that IT Pro users associate with Microsoft-written documentation. Not with users like me yelling for help :) Why are you combining MS-written documentation with User-written cries for help?

Yeesh. Technet was fine, Microsoft. Change for the sake of change is not fine.

Hi md5hash,

Although there is no official Microsoft document to announce that Volume Licensed Office 2019 is forever stuck at Version 1808, I am afraid, it is the truth.

Here is a similar thread "Office 2019 (Volume licensed Versions) will be Version 1808 forever".

Hello again Emily. I'm guessing you're the same one who originally tried to help me with my issues with setup.exe and ODT in my thread from last year. It is absolutely bizarre that I am getting these Windows S Mode error warnings with the perpetually licensed Office 2019. Thanks for answering this question though. Looks like I'm stuck forever with this bug.

We have the same issue now in our environment , but couldn't find anything much of a use which will at least point us where is this coming from .

@md5hash : Did you ever find any solution to this issue ?

Hi Siddharth - I just tested the newest copy of the ODT (March 23, 2021) and confirmed that, at LAST, after TWO YEARS of waiting, this issue is now fixed for me. I can run that version's setup.exe /download file.xml, get the bits I need, then run setup.exe /configure file.xml and it installs. No more pop-up complaining about Windows S mode - hallelujah!

I wish I could edit my original post on Technet (I miss Technet) but yes, that means this is fixed too.
