Microsoft DPM 2016 - Reporting incorrect "Storage consumed" - One backup item is larger than the whole server?

Hello,
We have a DPM server (Version: 5.1.378.0) that backs up several SQL databases.

It's started running out of storage, but we're unable to pinpoint what exactly is using all the storage, because it's reporting incorrect figures.

Under the Management tab, it reports the following:
- Total Capacity: 46569GB
- Used: 43150GB
- Free: 3418GB

These numbers seem right.

However, under the Protection tab, when we click on some items, they are reporting much higher consumed space:
- DB1 consumed: 46656GB
- DB2 consumed: 11452GB
- DB3 consumed: 9233GB
- etc etc

DPM is reporting over 70TB usage across all the databases & protected items.
We have a graph in our monitoring software to keep an eye on this stat it reports: https://imgur.com/a/6jSs2kT

How is one database consuming more than the total available storage on the DPM server? Is there a way we can get a more accurate representation?
Thanks

To give an update / more information on this. We deleted the 40TB+ reported backup and deleted it from disk over the weekend.

The DPM server freed up about 20TB usage.

I estimate we have to halve the numbers to get a more accurate representation.
