For example, do you have a hybrid deployment?
And please post the NDR message which contains the reason why the messages were rejected as Andy suggested.

Since you have a hybrid deployment, here is a Microsoft KB on this issue for your reference:
Users in a hybrid deployment can't access a shared mailbox that was created in Exchange Online
Please follow the solution in the link to create an on-premises object for the cloud mailbox.
And see if it can resolve this issue.

What is the SMTP address of the shared mailbox?
send to that.
IF that is not working, what is the bounce back message say?
