Autologon not working for Windows Server 2019 on Azure

Autologon not working for Windows Server 2019 on Azure. We've had autologon working for years - about a week or two (maybe a month) we noticed that our users we have set to autologin no longer autologin. Completely mystified, was there some kind windows change, azure change that can cause this? We've not changed the environment otherwise, also does not work. The manual regedit process also doesn't work https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/user-profiles-and-logon/turn-on-automatic-logon the whole is very strange.

Should still work but if you cannot get it working another option is sysinternals tool 'autologon'
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autologon

Sorry friend, I guess I didn't make it completely clear. I've been testing on brand new azure server environments using server2019. I've tried both the sysinternals tool autologon and the manual way, neither are working currently. :)

Hi there,

As it seems you have tried Auto logon and this is happening all of sudden , is this after any specific KB update . If so you can try uninstalling it and report this to the Microsoft

I would suggest you try this and have a quick check

  1. Press the Win+R keys -> type netplwiz -> hit Enter.

  2. Inside the User Accounts window -> click the Users tab -> uncheck the option Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

  3. Type your credentials inside the Automatically sign in dialog displayed -> press Ok -> click Apply -> Ok.

Hope this Answers all your queries , if not please do repost back .
