Question about Windows Insider program

I want to joint the Windows Insider program but I don't want to make any change to my PC, as it is used by myself and my family for critical business and school activities.
I read that to join the Windows Insider program I must enable it on my PC: is it correct?
How can I join the Windows Insider program without making any change to my PC and just getting news and updates?

When you join Windows Insider program, your device will be upgrade to the insider build and it is for testing and evaluation and you would expect errors and problems and Windows Insider is a way to help the product team to improve their products by reporting issue.
You wouldn't be able to try Windows Insider build unless you perform upgrade.
In case, you are only looking for updates and news, then take a look at:

Hello,

Windows Insider Preview builds are beta versions which may not provide same stability as regular or publicly released versions. You can try out Preview builds to test new features and send feedback to Microsoft.

If you don't want to affect your current stable version installation, you can install Preview builds using Virtual Machine.

Hope this helps!
