anonymous viewing of a shared onedrive folder wants them to log in to see individual items

I create a link for anyone to view a onedrive folder (pictures of family wedding). no editing, no password, no expiration.

on another machine, not logged into any MS account, I paste the link.

I see the contents of that folder. But if I click on any item (pics and videos), the item flashes large for a fraction of a second and then I get the MS login screen.

What am I doing wrong? Others sent me links to their shared folder and can see contents and click on individual pics without needing to log in.

THANKS

I am experience the exact same thing. all settings on org level allow it. i can create the links. the content is flashing then it requires a login. worked like this for years and now it seems buggy.

@IleneAcctg-7235,

Per my test, I could reproduce your issue in my tenant, however in another tenant with the same sharing settings, there is no such issue.

I try to clear the browser cache and access the link via inprivate windows, the issue still exists.

We suggest you contact Microsoft support to check if there is something wrong on back-end side:

a) At least it's a reproducible issue. I'm not completely crazy : )

b) and it IS possible to share a folder and not have people need to log in!

I am going through a CSP for my tenant and have them looking at it.

Any chance there's a powershell command that shows every setting in a tenant? I'd run it on mine and try to find a tenant that this works on and compare.

I don't doubt there's thousands? of settings. and loads of places in the admin panels to check, but it's gotta be somewhere?

I looked at my user account in the admin panels. Under onedrive, sharing, external, it shows a checkbox for allowing people outside the domain to access my site and the radio button 'allow sharing with anonymous guests...

@IleneAcctg-7235,

In order to get a better forum experience, we changed your answer to a comment.

Use Get-SPOTenant cmdlet to get all configuration settings of the tenant:

 #Set SharePoint Online Admin Center URL
 $AdminSiteURL="https://tenant-admin.sharepoint.com"

 #Connect to SharePoint Online Admin Center
 Connect-SPOService -Url $AdminSiteURL -Credential (Get-Credential)

 #Get Tenant Settings
 Get-SPOTenant

This is very strange. According to my test, even if I didn't make any changes to the tenant, he worked normally today.
