Bitlocker Device pre-installed on new HP laptop

Device-level Bitlocker is preinstalled and turned on on my new laptop.

I want to partition the sshd before I get well into commissioning it. it is unclear to me whether

  1. I can do this with bitlocker device turned on

  2. I can turn bitlocker device level off and then re-partition the drive

  3. if I turn it off and repartition the drive, can I then turn it back on

  4. does turning it back on affect all partitioned drives or just the ones present at the start; if so can I add the others later

what do I need to know to make an informed decision about all this

Thanks

Mike C

Hello,

Additionaly based on my experience.

Bitlocker encrypting logical volumes instead of physical drive. You can encrypt both C and D using password (do not forget to save recovery keys somewhere). The unlocking of C drive done through boot while unlocking D: needs to be done via Windows explorer (or even powershell). You will have the same as before but with additional layer of protection with password or usb-key.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
