got a problem on windows updated to 2004, every 3 clicks on file or folder freeze file exporter and I need to wait ~10-15 second until file or folder opens, the same problem when I use right-click on file or folder.
Have already tried to play around google advice like create a new profile, indexing and etc.

Maybe some one knows how to fix this issue?

    HI,

Check quick access for unresponsive entries \ bindings, after deleting/repairing dead entries, performance should behave normal.

    chears :)

    Hi,

    • First, try to SFC/DISM Scans. Ref.
    • ending it with the Task Manager and opening it again
    • Review below Microsoft help

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4087370/windows-10-fix-file-explorer-wont-open-or-start

    • If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool. ref

    Best regards,

It is sometimes caused by a third-party extension. ShellExView can be useful to see which shell extensions have been introduced into Explorer. Read about it then scroll down near to the bottom to download the Zip, 64-bit, etc version here http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

When you run it, click or tap on the column labelled Company to alphabetically sequence the entries. You have to assume that the Microsoft entries are bona fide, so concentrate on the third-party entries. Is there anything listed that is either unnecessary or unknown? If so, highlight it and click or tap the red spot (top left) to disable it. There shouldn’t be too many of them but you may find it easier to disable them all, then re-enable them (green spot) one at a time and try File Explorer until the culprit is found.

I have the same problem. This started with Windows 10 2004. Moving back to 1903 resolves permanently.

I have mapped drives to a share on my OWN computer. They are horrible slow to access. Like 15-20 seconds to preview a file. Both drives are M.2 NVME.

Accessing those same shares from another computer is fast but I need to have the same location mapped on all the computers.

I have discovered that I can temporarily resolve by:

    1. Disconnecting my mapped drives
    2. Removed the folder shares
    3. Re-shared the folders
    4. Remap the drives

This resolves the issue UNTIL you reboot. I have reported this to Microsoft already but have seen nothing back.

The only permanent way to resolve this I have found is to reinstall as Windows 10 1903 again.

I have seen the same thing from a server at one of my customers on their network (large corporation) and doing this process resolved their problem as well. This is DEFINATELY an issue that was created by something in the 2004 version. Not a settings issue. It has happened to 3 different computers on my network.

I just had this problem myself. It appears it is searching your entire network for file systems. I have a NAS on my network with a linked folder. When I am not signed in to the NAS my file explorer takes a long time to start, then as I am scrolling through it, it will freeze up for a few seconds every once in a while. Once I signed into my NAS account the file explorer worked perfectly fine. It seems what is slowing file explorer down is waiting on a reply from your other devices on your network.
