Onedrive.exe and Sharepoint 2019 on-premise

Hi,

We are trying to evaluate onedrive, the newest onedrive.exe, not groove. in our SP2019 on-premise environment.
Long story short.
When launching onedrive it asks for credentials and you can chose to create an account or log in with an existing one. These links leads to Microsofts online environment and that is our main question. Can we get onedrive to autenticate towards our on-premise active directory or are identities in the cloud a requirement?

It doesn't seem to be listed as a requirement here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/install/new-onedrive-sync-client#configure-onedrive-for-sharepoint-server-2019
But I kinda get the feeling that it is....

Hi @DanielM-6075
To get OneDrive to certificate towards our On-premise active directory, you need to configure group policy as the article says first.

There are two methods mentioned in the article, here we choose the second one:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/install/new-onedrive-sync-client#by-setting-the-registry-keys

First go to Registry Editor by search “regedit” in windows.

1.New a “key” named “OneDrive” in HKLM:\Software\Policies\Microsoft:

2.Then new “String value” in “OneDrive”, name it as “SharePointOnPremFrontDoorUrl”, entry your "my site host url" into value data:

3.Then configure the settings with the similar operation as it mentioned in the article:

4.As a result, your settings should be like:

Then you could sync SharePoint 2019 On-premise to OneDrive.

Ok. I had read that but the setting "SharePointOnPremPrioritization" was under the heading named "Specify the OneDrive location in a hybrid environment". Since we don't have a hybrid environment I didn't think it was applicable to us.

I will try this and perhaps you can change the heading to be clear that it also applies to on-premise environments only?

Hello @DanielM-6075
The setting "SharePointOnPremPrioritization" is not under the heading named "Specify the OneDrive location in a hybrid environment", it is a another method "set the registry keys directly" instead of "use group policy", this may be easy to mix them up.
As it has been mentioned in the article:
