integrate Windows Feature update after deploy Image with MDT

We are deploying our base images with MDT. Building a base image in a VM and then capture it with MDT. The Windows version is let's say: Windows 1903 and updating the base image with a newer windows version is not one of the options because several errors appears when updating in AUDITING mode or leave auditing mode and then updating and sysprep again gives much errors.

So what we wan't to do now is enroll the base image and then after deploying the base image only execute the WIndows 10 21H2 iso so do not letting the image look at WIndows Update after deploy thru State restore windows update (post and pre installation) but only the 21H2 update, is this possible and how?

When updating thru Windows Update Windows is goiing to update step for step and al those updates are in version 21H2 so only that is nessecairy i believe.

Hello Cornenietnodig,

I understand what you are trying to achieve but I am afraid is not a good idea. First some of the binaries will be on different base kernel and all in all, Windows Update will be flagged to update, with the consequent consumption of network resources to update all the systems, and the potential issues during update that may appear on every normal situations.

The only recommended way to capture an image would be to download the latest ISO file from Microsoft in https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 ,install updates, applications, settings, etc.. and capture.

Hope this helps to clarify, and prevent you spending time in future issues.

Best regards,
