SharePoint 2013, library word document template metadata lost while uploading to another library

The word document template is for library A, which has unique metadata/document properties, i.e. Price, amount, etc. It works as expected when uploading it to library A, all the metadata was correctly populated into the related columns.

However, when I upload this word document template into another library "B" (which is just an empty library), the original document metadata/properties of this document template are overwritten/wipe to default metadata that library "B" has. The template's unique metadata/properties is lost.

Does this normal? is there a way to keep the document's original unique metadata/property when uploading to another library that has different columns?

Thanks in advance, any suggestion would really help me out!

    Hello @KKaoChi ,

    Welcome to Q&A Forum!

Does the Word document template you mentioned refer to your custom Content Type? And the custom Content Type has a new Word document template.

    For example:

    131083-x1.png

    131010-x2.png

    131121-x3.png

Then you upload the Word document template to empty LibraryB.

Therefore, when you click this Word document template file, you will find that the original metadata/properties of this document template are overwritten with the default metadata of LibraryB.

If you want to use these metadata/properties of this document template in LibraryB, we recommend that you add a custom Content Type to LibraryB.

    Thanks,
    Echo Du
