sccm log showing Update already installed, skipping but software center show error

Hi all,

i try to install a java update through SCCM, but some clients show "Update already installed, skipping" and "No updates were actionable for installation" in their WUAHandler log and show error in software center.
but it's not true, inside the control panel and also inside the SCCM software inventory console the java version is updated.

what can I do to fix those clients?

PS: other clients in the same deployment have installed and recognized the update correctly

thank you

Yes I think the manual installation of Java uses the exe which installs differently to msi based installation. At this point the only 2 options that I see are -

  1. Create dynamic collection containing devices that reporting Java version n-1 and older. Target your SUG on this collection. Remember that the collections will be based on inventory and will not be real time.

  2. Package your java updates and deploy them as applications.

Is the issue only with Java update or other updates as well?

Hi,

It seems that there are something wrong between client and MP, we could run these following policy to check if the status could be changed.

@RahulJindal-2267 it happens only with java updates.

@Amandayou-MSFT i try to update clients with all actions, besides in SCCM the client inventory is updated with correct version

no nothing, i have only this error in WUAHandler "No updates were actionable for installation."

sccm seems not recognize manual updated java installation, if I manual uninstall java updated version and install with software center it works.

So I can update java but if a client has already installed the latest version sccm shows error. I deploy the update with "update group" so I can't modify the detection rule.

there's a workaround for that?

thanks

thanks for the workaround.

I think this should be fixed by MS the java uodate detection rule should be msi product code and the exe java version in "program files / program files (x86)", it makes more sense :)
