Evaluating "Azure Stack HCI" : stuck at "join a domain"

Hi

I'm currently evaluating Azure Stack HCI (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-stack/hci/deploy/deployment-quickstart).

But I'm stuck in the "Get Started" / "Join a domain" step.
I have created an Azure AD Domain (not sure if required), but Windows Admin says "Can't reach the domain controller from server X.X.X.X.".

I'm wondering if Azure Stack HCI, which is presented as a HyperV managed from Azure Cloud, is requiring a DC on premise ??
If not, what I need to be able to join Azure AD from my servers (both are directly connected to Internet without any firewall).

Thanks for your help

    Hi @Clement SimpleRezo ,

Currently, Azure Stack HCI does require an on-prem domain to join. The original deployment of Azure Stack HCI is functionally similar to Windows Server 2019 HCI with the same requirements to build the cluster but with the added abilities of connecting to Azure and the hybrid services. Going forward, the number of similarities between these OSs will continue to shrink as new functionality is enabled for Azure Stack HCI OS. With that, our team is exploring options to enhance this scenario, but I do not have a timeline or any additional details I can share at this time.

    Hope this helps!
    Trent
