2021-08 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5005101)

I just purchased my hp and I'm having issues with update: "2021-08 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5005101)" Once I install and restart my computer it starts the repair process then says: We couldn't install this update, but you can try again (0x800f0845). Any help is appreciated.

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

If there is any way you can get help from the vendor that sold the computer to you then do that. They are supposed to provide support.

Hello @TammySterling-2145

I would like to suggest you to below Troubleshooting steps.

  1. Turn Off your computer for 5 minutes and turn it ON again.

  2. Remove C:\Windows\Temp and C:\WinNT\Temp

  3. Disable any Antivirus if you have for Temporary till the issue exists.

  4. Boot the PC in safe mode and run below command

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    dism.exe /image:C:\ /scratchdir:C:\scratch /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
    dism.exe /image:C:\ /scratchdir:C:\scratch /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    sfc /scannow

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback! Forgive me and correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying to remove C:\windows...?

I know just enough about computers to do general computing, external hardware & software installs. If I do a remove C:\ anything, feel I will just trash my brand new computer. I thought it would be an easy fix like turning of a firewall or something. (Although that didn't work either)

I do appreciate the feedback but due to my lack of internal computer knowledge, I may just need to take it in somewhere as I don't trust myself enough to fix it this way. Since this is a new computer I can't figure out why I'd have a problem with the hard drive.

Thanks a bunch!

Absolutely do not delete C:\Windows! The suggestion was to delete all the temporary files but only the temporary files. Turning off the computer for 5 minutes won't cause a problem but I know of no reason it is necessary to leave it off for more than a second.

And the reason you did not get any other answers is that you need a specialist to evaluate your system. It is likely a very lengthy process to do that in a forum like this.
