Failing WIP Policy Unable to exempt App

Hi All,
Been working with Intune and WIP polices for about a year and have a problem I and several Microsoft support techs have been unable to resolve.

We are in the process of onborading a cloud Document Management product called M-Files. Bottom line is while our WIP policies appear to be working for all other local and cloud applications we have not been able to get the M-Files application to pass the WIP policy to recognize our documents stored in M-files as corporate data.

When using M-files and opening a document from the cloud repository, it typically open in the appropriate Office app (i.e., Word), When the user attempts to copy text from an encrypted desktop word document, they get the usual "Can't Use Work Content Here" error. The M-Files app (MFStatus.exe) shows in task manager as an unenlightened app. My thoughts are this needs to be an exempt app but all efforts to make it exempt have failed.

I have an hypothesis that the cloud M-Files files are opening in Word as an enlightened app and being detected as personal data. Thinking we need to trick the WIP into opening this as corportate data but not sure how to accomplish this. I have tried adding all the M-files cloud locations to the Network Perimeter and Protected Domains list but no luck with this so far.

We have been working this problem for over a month with zero progress. After opening several support cases with no resolve I am becoming very frustrated with the problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know and I can provide any additional background information.

Thanks!!
