Can't find update ID in WSUS

Hi,
I'm trying understand why my MDM client reports update GUIDs that I can't query from WSUS server: sws.update.microsoft.com?
I have an MDM client which responding to Update CSP (I'm not using in-tune), sends a list of GUIDs, but I can't find the metadata in WSUS api?
I'm trying to follow: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/client-management/mdm/device-update-management
I appreciate any tips!
thanks.

hello @ehsanfahradi-9084
Thanks for your posting on this forum.

I noticed that you are not using Intune to manage the devices. What's the management tool in your environment? It will be better if your could provide more screenshots.

In addition, what's the update GUIDs which didn't appear on the https://sws.update.microsoft.com? Perhaps I could test it in my lab if I know the KB number or the update GUID.

Looking forward to you feedbak and have a great day.

Regards,
Rita

Hey @RitaHu-MSFT ,

Thanks for your quick response.
We are a MDM provider and I'm not using any management tools, I'm just following the guide I mentioned earlier, as an investigation.
in this case my device (which is a VM) is returning this list of updates as installed via Update CSP:

c01629fc-64ea-45f3-b7cb-cabc7d566933
f18bd852-2fb9-445e-93c2-208e33156204

1f36097b-e8c9-41a3-bcc3-baae597f692d

But I can not find metadata for some of these IDs on wsus APIs (GetRevisionList), not even on https://catalog.update.microsoft.com.

Cheers!

so I did some investigation let's take 1f36097b-e8c9-41a3-bcc3-baae597f692d for example. on the device I can get the update detail:
title, update_id, revision_number
2021-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5005565), 1f36097b-e8c9-41a3-bcc3-baae597f692d, 1

when you query this update_id in wsus, it doesn't exist, but this title exists...with another ID: 2ab61f5f-8761-4804-91cf-dbc91f70696b
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=2ab61f5f-8761-4804-91cf-dbc91f70696b

Does it mean the update id changes on wsus?

Thanks for your feedback.

I found the below messages and I want to share with you.

In fact, the update ID is used to uniquely identify each update. The update Id of 2021-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5005565) update is 9a11c8f1-525f-4088-8fb7-33d7b56dd6dc not 1f36097b-e8c9-41a3-bcc3-baae597f692d.

The Update ID stays on the MIcrosoft Update Catalog:

The Update ID show on the WSUS console:
132632-8.png

They are the same.

Thanks for your help!
I do realise your point, what confuses me is: the incorrect ID is reported by the client:

I don't understand why client reports the incorrect ID, and how can I make the client to report the correct ID for this update.
