After Windows update on Intel Nuc, Kinect v2 has the 'repeating disconnection problem'. It works for a 10 seconds and then it disconnects and after 5 seconds it connects again, and so on.

I have tried following suggestions but I still have same problem:

  • unplugging Kinect from USB port and power supply
  • connecting Kinect to different usb ports
  • reinstalling Kinect SDK
  • updating the kinect driver in device manager
  • re-enabling the microphone for KinectService from Microphone privacy settings and from Manage sound device.

Kinect driver version and Kinect Service version are the same, 2.2.1905.16000.

    Hello @chlopak_pod_sloncem

I would recommend a rollback by reinstalling the Kinect SDK from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=44561

On the other hand, I would suggest to

    • change the USB port where is connected (or a different slot in the motherboard)
    • check the Power Plan settings for any Powersavings applied to USB devices (I would try the High Performance profile, you can go back to your usual profile once the test is done)
    • In case you are running an Gen 9 Intel or higher you may try to levarage the powersaving capabilities that are not available by GUI by adding the next registry key:
      reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Processor /v Capabilities /t REG_DWORD /d 0x7e060
(**Please save a backup of your registry in all cases)

    Hope this helps,
    Best regards,

The Power plan is set to high performance.

Nuc, which is used, has 5th Gen Intel core processor.

I have tried with Kinect SDK reinstalling and USB port changing and still have the same problem.

    Hi @Limitless Technology ,

    I still have same problem.

What is interesting is that Kinect v2 works fine on some NUCs (after reinstalling SDK) but not on others. It is same configuration on all NUCs.

The other thing is that if we put "working" Kinect to "not working" NUC, Kinect will not work. And the other way around, if we put "not working" Kinect on "working" NUC, Kinect will work.

Can it be something related to USB, USB driver?

Nope. For now, Windows update is turned off on our NUCs.
