how to automate outlook profile creation after migrate to exchange online

Hello Exchange Guru,

We are in the planning stage of migration our Exchange 2016 to Exchange Online. One of our concern is how do we automate the process of deleting user's old Outlook profile and create new Outlook profile after users mailbox have moved to Exchange Online.

Thanks for your help.

@brichardi

Do you want do migrate mailbox in the way of hybrid migration? If so, in most cases, users don't need to re-create the configuration file as AndyDavid said. It is same as migrating mailboxes between databases on Exchange on-premises.

If you migrate mailboxes in the way of Cutover or Express migration which will create a new mailbox on Exchange online. You could joined your computer into Azure AD, then login computer with Office 365 account. After that, you will could configure Outlook with the login account automatically.

Well, you typically do not need to recreate the Outlook profile, Closing and re-opening is typically sufficient.
For those times when its needed, it may easier to just ask the user to do it and provide them documentation.
