User created template files not saving a copy in outlook sent items folder

I've created a template in outlook but it doesn't automatically save a copy in sent items. I can go into options and manually set it to save a copy but how can I get this to do it automatically? Using the outlook app on windows 10 pro and an azure connected user.

Hi @GavinGil-3634 ,

I've created a template in outlook but it doesn't automatically save a copy in sent items.

I understand you have created a local Outlook template file(.oft), but the sent item couldn't be saved when you opened and sent message based on this template, is it right? Did it occur on this template file? Could other sent messages be sent and saved normally there?

If all sent messages couldn't be saved normally, the issue may be related to your Outlook, please first check tif you have enable the "save the copies of messages in sent item folder" option in Outlook option settings instead of open message and set the (Open Outlook>click File> Option>Message>save message>check save the copies of messages in sent item folder), if you haven't check it, the message wouldn't be saved.

If the issue actually occurred on this specific template only, as I know, corrupted template file may cause it, please try to create a new template file and send message based on this file for testing.

If your issue still exists, please provide us with more information about it(such as your specific Outlook version"File>Office account>About Outlook", test results etc.)

It happens with every template file I try to create. I can go in and manually get it to save to the sent items but it won't do it automatically.

All other emails save to sent items ok.

Version 2108 (Build 14326.20238 Click to run) It's M365 apps for enterprise.

Thanks for your update and sorry for delay.

How did you create the template? According to my tests on same version of Outlook, I create the template via create new message>File>Save as > Outlook template file, and use it via New Itme>more item>choose form, User Templates in File Systems>send it, but the messages based on .oft file could be saved normally there.

If your steps have any differences with mine, please provide me with more information about it.

If they are same, the issue may be related to your client, did this issue occur only recently? In order to avoid the interference of any add-ins, it's recommended to restart your Outlook in safe mode to test(windows+r>type"outlook.exe /safe">enter)

If the issue still exists, considering corrupted outlook client may also cause it, please try to repair your Outlook to check.
