Can I print locally using AVD using a bastion host?

I am currently testing azure VD for my company and I need to print locally using Azure VD.

What do I need to do to make sure I can detect my local printers in the remote host?

Thanks!

No, only copy/paste from the clipboard is supported. Azure Bastion really is not designed for this purpose. You can do printer redirection over a regular RDP connection however (outside of Azure Bastion).

Are you using AVD as a jump host. Or actually using Azure bastion first?
AVD supports local printer redirection enabling users to print to their own local printers. Please check this document for details.

Hope this helps.

@vipullag-MSFT Hello and thank you for your suggestion. I was trying to use Bastion to connect to the one test VM we have right now to avoid giving it a public IP. But when I did so. It could not detect any of the printers on my office network. (We dont use a print server or anything, its just several printers with static IPs on a local network). I did not have any printers USB connected though, do they need to be USB connected to be discovered?

The printer re-direction Should have already been enabled. If I can't use bastion to print locally, can we use the windows desktop client (the one that users login with their Azure AD creds to access assigned workspaces) to print locally?

Bastion and AVD are not the same services. In the context of Bastion this will be connecting via the RDP session through the Azure portal by connecting to the Bastion service that's assigned to the VMs virtual network. This isn't the same as connecting via AVD which uses the AVD gateway/broker service to facilitate the user connection. The screenshots you posted above reflect the RDP properties which would be assigned to an AVD facilitated connection so if you are connecting via the bastion service these properties won't apply.

In order for local printers to be redirected (using the setting you have above) the printer would need to be installed on the local device (ie USB typically) and the print drivers would need to be installed. Since the August patch local users can't install printer drivers so would require the admin to install (this was a fix for Print nightmare) prior for them to be visible as well. KB5005010: Restricting installation of new printer drivers after applying the July 6, 2021 updates (microsoft.com). This is assuming you are using AVD to connect to the VM and not Bastion.

Hope this clarifies your query.
