We couldn't complete update undoing changes

Hello

We get below patch roll back message on our Windows Server 2012 R2 DC servers

Hi there,

The error “we couldn’t complete the updates undoing changes Windows 10” occurs due to the following possible causes

Lack of enough free disk space
The update is interrupted during the installation process.
Corrupted system files

You can try the following steps
Run DISM and SFC Tools
Delete the contents of the SoftwareDistribution Folder
Reset update components
Repair update the PC
Run the Windows Troubleshooter

We done all the basic troubleshooting like sfc scan, delete software distribution folder, install patch manually etc but does not work. Till last month it got succeeded.

Till July monthly roll up got succeeded.
Aug monthly roll up showing now superseded
Hence tried to install sept monthly roll up but failed

I would like to suggest you that below steps if it helps.

  1. run below command with elevated privilege to undo the changes of the failed update

    dism /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

  2. Download the update from Microsoft catalog and apply manually, Disable Antivirus before installing it.
