Hi all,

We have two nodes Node1 and Node2 which resides at a different site. There is SQL AG configured.

When I check it AG role in Failover Cluster Manager, "allow it failback immediately" is checked.

What's the reason behind this? Do settings get from SQL or manually check it in FCM?

Thank you!

    Hi JohnJY-4666,

According to the new alwayson availability group I created, it seems to be automatically selected by default in Failover cluster manager.
Allow failback immediately specify the clustered role will automatically fail back to the most preferred owner when the preferred owner is active. When a node becomes inactive for any reason, the Cluster service fails over any groups hosted by the node. When the node becomes active again, the Cluster service can fail back the groups originally hosted by the node. You can set failback to occur during a specific time period. It is important to set the failback time because you may not want failback to occur during hours of peak usage.

    Best Regards,
    Amelia

    Hello @John JY ,

Yes, this is possible due to the services running on the availability group. You can check about Failover policies and AGs here:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/sql-server/failover-clusters/windows/failover-policy-for-failover-cluster-instances?view=sql-server-2017

Hope this is informative for you,
    Best regards,
