Upload large File of size 250 GB in to SharePointOnline using SharePoint Client ApI

Hi ,

We have a requirement to upload a large Files into SharePoint online , Maximum size they have above 250 GB but majority of the files are below 250 GB.

We would like to suggest/restrict to upload upto 250 GB (Maximum size supported by SharePoint Online). We have never tried uploading such a large file into SharePoint online.

Could you please help us answering below questions? ,

  1. If we use SharePoint client API(REST API) to upload , What is the maximum File Size or File chunk (Large File splitting) can upload in a single go? .

  2. If Prefer to go option 4 in this article , shall we upload 250 GB without any issues? If so, what should be the maximum size of chunk in a File Split?

Appreciate your help on this regard.

Hi @faisalnoordeen-6670 ,
The contents of the file. Pass the content parameter in the request body. The maximum size of a binary file that you can add by using the REST API is 2 GB.
You can refer to the following document
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/office/developer/sharepoint-rest-reference/dn450841(v=office.15)?redirectedfrom=MSDN#bk_FileCollectionAdd

The option 4 doesn't limit size of files.Internal testing has shown that a chunk block size of 8 MB works best, but off course this depends on the network connection you're using
