Subscription type for Azure AD Domain Services

I'd like to set up Azure AD Domain Services on an Active Directory tenant that I created. This is only for test purposes and I don't expect to add more than a handful of test users to AD so I can access it through LDAP. It asks for a subscription to be linked.
What kind of subscription should this be? A regular Azure subscription (compute service) or some special Azure AD subscription?
Also, is it possible to use Azure AD DS on a free subscription/trial?

Hi @Vidya-6060 • Thank you for reaching out.

Yes, a regular Azure subscription (compute service) can be used to deploy Azure AD Domain Services. You can use the trial subscription for this purpose as well. As Azure AD Domain Services is a managed domain service, you will be charged from your Azure Subscription. If you use Trial subscription for deployment of Azure ADDS, you may exhaust your consumption limit prior to 30 days. So, if you want to deploy Azure ADDS for testing purpose, you need to prioritize your testing accordingly.
