exchange 2013 - software installation - how to protect databases

Hi,

For some time I'll be installing monitoring software on exchange server which can cause server to freeze (this happened on some other servers). Therefore I'd like to protect exchange especially mailbox databases against dirty shutdown state.

What would be the correct procedure for that ?
Should first put exchange components into maintenance mode with option "ServerWideOffline" and then stop the service "Microsoft Information Store" or there is another way ?

Installation concerns a single Exchange 2013 server with CU23.

Please advise.

I would dismount the databases before installing if that is a concern
