Current SQL Server versions are supported on Windows Server x64, and it doesn't matter if it's a virtual or physical machine.

@eg1995-5273 This might be possible, but my first question would be why do you want to do this? Azure Virtual Desktop is designed to be a RDS environment for users to log into and have a remote workspace. The servers and instances are brought up and down on demand or as users log in and off, which is not a good environment for a database.

Typically SQL databases are deployed in Azure SQL, or on a Virtual Machine. It might be that WVD users need access to a SQL database, but I would HIGHLY suggest reviewing this requirement to make sure that this is the desired scenario.

Hi @TravisCragg-MSFT , the requirement is to have a sql server running on a windows server deployed in azure and that 10 users are being able to access this server remotely at the same time. It's either to deploy RDS terminal services on an azure vm or to suggest azure wvd if it is feasible even though i am not able to find any documentation regarding that

the additional thing is also when i quote wvd on azure calculator i cant choose sql licenses to add it on top so i am bit confused because eventually i will have to quote for a sql license

any ideas?

Although it is possible to deploy a SQL server in your WVD environment, I would highly recommend deploying it on a separate SQL server in a VM in the same VNET.

When using the pricing calculator, make sure to select 'SQL Server' The SQL Server images come included with a SQL license.
