Hi Bhakti,

Thanks for posting.

Just trying to understand more on your BCP plans for azure. what type of workload types in azure are you trying to protect, its all VM or PaaS services ?

Azure offers an end-to-end backup and disaster recovery solution and the protection can be done in different models of Azure BCP product set.. like azure backup, azure site recovery.

Please have a look :

Thanks Dev...Currently in my on-prem i have a windows host that connects to SQL DB which gets raw data from sharepoint and creates certain report for end users...and I have respective BCP both for compute and DB and during my annual BCM test i normally shut down primary and run the solution in BCP.How can I achieve exactly same in Azure ?

HI Bhakti,

It should be Definitely possible in Azure using azure site recovery manger.

You can replicate the VM workloads to different region and plan your DR drills with failover capabilities. And also you have an option to go for manged SQL (PaaS) service.

Again, when in comes to BCP in Azure, there are other design decisions to be considered like Network connectivity, security and Identity.

thanks Dev.

Will explore that option..I am into Prod support team and what I have noticed is other teams in my organization are still struggling to get the BCM done as we used to do on prem..Based on my theoretical knowledge I know that Azure provides those replication stuffs such as ZRS,LRS etc and was thinking to just shut down the primary DB or VM say and try testing the other DC where its being replicated. Once I have the subscription, can try it out and also will explore the option of Azure Site recovery manager which you proposed..Will feedback to you as well again. Many Thanks

Hi Dev.I tried for VM and it worked succesfully as it had that option exclusively and it did everything for me.
However I am unable to do it for Azure postgres.Basically I am migrating my on prem oracle to Azure postgress by selecting GRS replication. So How do i point to repliacted region by breaking primary to test exact DR scenario?

Any help on this?
