Hi,

I am going to perform o365 tenant to tenant migration. I have some shared mailboxes which I want to migrate from one tenant to another tenant. Should I create any identity in destination Azure AD for the shared mailboxes like user etc before migration? OR do not need to create any thing in Azure AD. It will create automatically during the migration.

Please answer me as soon as possible. thanks

    Hi @HASSAN BIN NASIR DAR

The simplest method to migrate contents of shared mailboxes is by exporting them as PST files and importing the contents into the new Office 365/ Microsoft 365 tenant.

Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

We need to create the accounts firstly and then upload the .PST files and map to the users mailbox.

And mainly steps of of importing your organization's PST files list below:
1.Download the PST import tools and key to private Azure Storage location
2.Upload or copy the PST files
3.Create a PST import mapping file
In the CSV file you will find a couple of columns/parameters:

    • Workload – For pst import to the user’s mailbox, leave this on Exchange
    • FilePath – If you only have pst file in the root folder, then you can leave this empty. If you have used subfolders, then enter here the name of the subfolder.
    • Name – If the name of the pst file self
    • Mailbox – The mailbox you want to import to
    • IsArchive – You can import the pst file to the user’s online archive folder. Set it to true or false.
    • TargetRootFolder – If you leave this blank, then the files will be imported to a new folder named Imported in the user’s mailbox. If you want to merge the data with the existing folders (like inbox and sent items) then use only a /

    4.Create a PST import job
5.Filter the PST data that will be imported to mailboxes
    6.Start the PST import job
