editing in word

Hello, I just downloaded ms Office on my Mac for University. unfortunately Im not allowed to edit in word, only the view option is available..May you help me further?

Where did you download the Office Mac for University?
Did you activate the Office application?
Did you get any error message?

Hey, thanks for your quick response!
I downloaded the office package via the App Store and then activated it with a link from the university website, which directly leaded me to the Microsoft Office page. Typed in my students Email and activated it there.
The error it shows me says "View only, Your account ... doesn't allow editing on a Mac. To learn more, contact your admin about your Office plan".
I'm not quite sure who is meant with "admin"

Your Office account at https://portal.office.com should provide detailed information.

Also/alternatively, you can check with your university IT support which version you are allowed to use.

Some educational institutions only offer the web-based versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
