MS Teams error code 80070003

Hi,

I have a few users who are using a multisession RDP server and everything appears to be fine apart from Teams.
This is the errors that keeps coming up:

When this happens I have to login as the user and perform these steps:

  1. Close/kill all MS Teams instances.

  2. Delete all files under the following path C:\Users*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams

Unfortunately this only a temporary solution as after a few days, the issue re-surfaces again.

Is there a more permanent fix for this problem and if so how would I go about it?

many thanks in advanced for helping.

Kind Regards
GMSS

Hi,

I think I may have solved this conundrum. After reading through a lot of articles and getting nowhere I tired something I saw on YouTube.
That is to change the Teams compatibility mode to windows 8.

Here is what I did:

  • Close and Exit Teams

  • Right click on the Teams shortcut and click on properties

  • Next click on the "Compatibility" tab and under "Compatibility mode", check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode".

  • Click on the drop down arrow and select "Windows 8"

Hope this solution helps someone else in the same boat...

Hi @GenesisSupport-6595 ,

After a researching about this issue. I think you could try the following ideas:
1. Sign off from the Teams client and Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
2. Delete the Teams local files in C:\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams
3. Create a registry enrty: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WorkplaceJoin, “BlockAADWorkplaceJoin”=dword:00000001

And then you could sign in Teams and please choose "Sign in to this app only" rather than let your organization control it.

Best regards,
Lou

Hi Lou,

Many thanks for your reply.

I've tried this now and I suppose only time will tell. Previously when I tried this it took a few days before the error message comes up again.
So I will await for a few days and will let you know what the outcome.

If this still doesn't work is there anything else I could try?

Kind regards
Keith

Hi Lou,

I'm just reporting back as the error is still happening.

After some test I noticed that it happens when the user logs off from one Session Host server and logs into another Session Host server.
The fix so far is to delete the folder in this path:

C:\Users*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams

As long as the user does not sign off and not assigned to another session host server, Teams will work.

There must be a token in a files of some sort within this folder C:\Users*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams which only recognises the the server the folder was created on?

Is there anything else you'd recommend I try?

Kind Regards
