Dear All ,

A child company part of same AD forest as parent company , the child company is splitting from the parent company, Parent and child Company user's use a common exchange 2010 server.

The parent company has Exchange 2010 hybrid with their own parent tenant,

The child company is having it own o365 tenant , they are using their own AD connect server to sync Users to this tenant,

Can we setup a Exchange 2016 in the same forest and perform a hybrid of this child company o365.

We then would migrate the mailboxes to o365.

The Aim is not touch the hybrid configuration of parent company and at same time migrate mailboxes to child company tenant,

Awaiting Earliest Response .
Regards.
Hasan Reza

    @Hasan Reza

    One forest/organization can only hybrid with one Exchange online. So, I would suggest you take the following two ways:

    Way 1: Migrate the child company mailboxes to parent Exchange online(you need to sync child AD account to parent AAD first), then do a Cross-tenant mailbox migration to migrate those mailboxes from parent Exchange online to the Child Exchange online.

    Way 2: You can also export data from the child mailboxes with New-MailboxExportRequest command. Then assign license on new tenant to enable mailbox for child domain. After than, you could use network upload service to import data to new mailboxes.
