Hyper-V Failover Cluster

Hi

A Windows Server 2016 Datacenter VM in a 2016 Hyper-V Failover Cluster.
I get the following error when changing the VM priority from 'High' to 'Medium'.
'Failed to execute control code '54526046'. For more data, see 'Information details'.
There is no further information in 'Information Details'.
I can't find a resolution to this.
Any help appreciated.

Hello @MM-7013,

This error appears when the operation tries to access the disk and there is some conflict:

  • there is not enough free space in host storage to proceed with the operation

  • the disk / volume / file system is locked or protected by some running process

  • User running the operation lacks permission over the host storage

Have you tried using Powershell and run-as with an elevated account?

Check priority: Get-ClusterGroup | Where-Object {$_.GroupType -eq "VirtualMachine"} | Select-Object Name, Priority
Set priority: (Get-ClusterGroup VM01).Priority=xxxx
settings:
High (3000)
Medium (2000): The default setting
Low (1000)
No Auto Start (0)

Hope this helps with your query,

Hi LimitlessTechnology-2700

The error code had pointed me in the direction of a storage issue.
There is no issue with the CSV however there is something not right.
The Hyper-V Failover Cluster quorum disk is listed as a resource for this VM in addition to the CSV the VM resides in.
The quorum disk is currently on the same Hyper-V node as the VM.
I am going to migrate the VM onto another host and see whether the quorum disk moves hosts with the VM and, if not, is it still listed as a resource of the VM.
I think this is the issue.
Any idea why the quorum disk is listed as a resource of the VM?

Your help is appreciated.
