OneDrive and SharePoint - Real-time co-authoring questions

Hi

Regarding real-time co-authoring questions in OneDrive and SharePoint:

  • Is there any limit on how many people can co-author a document simultaneously?

  • Does co-authoring work on all file types or only certain file types?

  • Does the OneDrive Desktop app support real-time co-authoring as well or is it only via Browser?

Thank you so much.

If i remember correctly, the hard-limit is something like 100 people, but for normal experience you should aim to keep it to maximum 10 or so. Only Office file types are supported (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx, and xlsb). OneDrive on its own only enables the sync, it's the Office apps that enable co-authoring, but yes, you can use it on desktop as well as browser, and you can even use it in offline mode.
