Block Perosnal Account setup in Outlook Client App

Hi All,

Need some recommendation on how to block setting up personal email account on outlook app in Windows 10 device.

Is there any specific policy in Intune to prevent user from setting up personal email accounts (eg. gmail) in Outlook client app ?

We have this in place "Non-Microsoft account: Block" which prevents users from adding non-Microsoft accounts using the user interface as mentioned in this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/configuration/device-restrictions-windows-10#cloud-and-storage this works well with windows 10 native mail browser. However on Outlook client app it doesn't work.

Any other work around to prevent setting any personal account in Windows 10 Outlook client app via Intune ?

@Rahul-7230 Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

For this issue, there is no direct method can block the personal account setup in Outlook Client App via intune.

I have done a lot of research, only someone mentioned adding registry values.

Adding a tag to the question for Office as this really is specific to Outlook and Office and not Intune.

@Philipnicoles-8576 Did it also apply to windows 10 devices? I only find that App Config Policy applies to iOS and Android devices.

@Rahul-7230 You can try the following two methods.

1, (intune) create a "configuration" for windows to restrict users from adding accounts other than the default account.
Look for "Microsoft Outlook 2016\Account settings\exchange"
Set "Prevent adding non-default Exchange accounts (User)"

Restrict personal email account login
Set up PC's firewall, disable pop3 and smtp. Only the MAPI protocol is allowed.
Find “Microsoft Outlook 2016\account settings\exchange in intune”
Set “Prevent personal Microsoft accounts from using MAPI (User).”

I'm just starting to manage microsoft 365 and am not very familiar with a lot of the settings. I have not verified these two settings, just an idea.
