Recover overwritten word document

Hi- I have accidentally overwritten a word document with another one. I have saved it frequently but accidentally overwritten with another word document after closing it. I have auto-recover option as OFF. How do I recover the last version of the document? I tried in previous versions in windows and also I do not have a back up in one-drive. I'm using Office 365 Enterprise apps. Is there any way I can recover the document? I do not want to start from scratch as I have spent days on it. Thank you in advance!

There are only a few ways to recover an overwritten word document:

1.Recover Overwritten Excel Files/Word Document from Temporary Files

This requires automatic recovery feature to be enabled.

2.Restore Previous Version

This requires activation of the backup option.

Unfortunately, from your description, you don't seem to have either feature enabled, which means you can't retrieve the previous document.

If you save your document at desktop , then go to desktop , then right click , then press restore previous version . than choose the most recent one just before you replace/overwritten saved your file

Overwriting an existing document and saving is one of the best ways to obliterate an existing document!

If the document is saved to OneDrive, the versions feature can recover for a period of time.

This is one of the reasons you should use templates as the basis for new documents rather than existing documents.
