Hi, my problem is that I would like to update my Windows 10 Professional build 19043 to 2004 to enable WSL2. According to this you need 2004 to run WSL2:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install#manual-installation-steps

I followed these steps:

https://www.itechguides.com/how-to-install-windows-10-2004-update-manually/

But my Windows specifications still stays that Build version is 19043.1288:

Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H1
Installed on ‎16/‎10/‎2021
OS build 19043.1288
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0

My problem is that my motherboard is https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/Z97-PRO%20GAMER/HelpDesk_Knowledge/ and it doesn't support TPM (Trusted platform module) and I cannot install Windows 11 on my computer.

And my motherboard doesn't support even this external tpm module: https://www.asus.com/fi/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/Accessories/TPM-M-R2-0/

Is my only option to buy new motherboard or is there something I can still try to enable Windows 10 Pro 2004 build to install WSL2?

Thanks!

Windows 11 can be clean installed on most computers.

If the updates failed due to unsupported hardware, BIOS, drive configuration, etc. this will be an unsupported installation.

An unsupported installation may not benefit from performance and security improvements.

And an unsupported installation may suffer from failure of automatic windows updates and automatic Microsoft Defender updates.

So far, in other forums, numerous end users have clean installed Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, BIOS, and drive specifications.
They have also updated Windows 11 without problems.

Each end user must decide on their risks and benefits.
