Not able to install SSMS ?

I want to use SQL in my local machine for learning.

I have downloaded and installed successfully the latest version of SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe ( 15.0.2000.5 )

While I'm trying to install SSMS (18.10) , User Account Control dialogue box appears, I select Yes and nothing happens.


Below is the log file for the same :

I have researched a lot but could not get any possible solution to this.
This is fresh and first time ever mssql installation on my laptop.

It would be great if someone can help me.

Is this your private machine, or is it in a corporate network? I get the feeling of an over-zealous anti-malware program here.

Hi,
This is my private machine, windows home official is installed and no other anti-virus than windows defender is installed.

Hi @ChetanJawale-9207,

As Erland mentioned, please check the anti-virus software in your server. Download the SSMS 18.10 again from this link, then run the SSMS setup file as administrator. Suggest you reading the blog that provide the detail steps about SSMS installation.

The latest version of SQL server is SQL 2019 CU13 (15.0.4178.1). Refer to SQL Server Versions and Build Numbers.

I see that you are running Windows 8.1. This is listed as a supported version for SSMS 18.10. Nevertheless, you may want to try SSMS 17.9.1 instead: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/release-notes-ssms?view=sql-server-ver15#1791
