Microsoft Remote Desktop -- Cannot log-on from Mac -- Error code: 0x207

Trying to log-on to Microsoft Remote Desktop from my MacBook Pro, just as I have for months, and suddenly receiving this error:

Unable to connect
We couldn't connect to the remote PC. This might be due to an expired password. If this keeps happening, contact your network administrator for assistance.
Error code: 0x207

My password is NOT expired. We confirmed this by logging in successfully via another PC. The only obvious change since the last time I logged in was a system update on my MacBook. It is now running macOS Catalina 10.15.6. The Remote Desktop app itself is also up to date (Version 10.4.0).

Have scoured other posts/questions and none have provided a solution. Need to be able to login to complete my work. Please help!

Have exactly the same software on my MacBook Pro. Try to uninstall the RDP client. I use CleanMyMacX for such things. But there are also some free uninstallers. You have to remove everything. Here's a screenshot to give you an idea. Then install the client again. Some files may have been corrupted.

Hi,

Since the connection is successful via another PC, the problem should be from the MAC side.

Please confirm below.

1.Confirm if your Remote Desktop app is the latest version 10.4.0 (1811), which was released on Jul 18, 2020.

Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta
https://install.appcenter.ms/orgs/rdmacios-k2vy/apps/microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac/distribution_groups/all-users-of-microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac

2.Verify if you could ping the remote PC successfully.

a. Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock and then click the Utilities icon.
b. Click the Network Utility icon to launch the application.
c. Click the Ping tab.

d. In the Enter the Network Address to Ping text field, enter the IP address of the computer that you want to remote.
e. To simply verify connectivity, select the Send Only x Pings radio button and enter a low number, such as 5, in the text field.
(Five or ten pings are plenty to see whether the connection is working.)
f. Click the Ping button.

3.Confirm if port 3389 is listening on your MacBook.

Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal

Input Netstat -a and Enter (It will list all active connections, check if 3389 port is listening)

Thanks,
Eleven

Same exact problem, Version 10.4.0, just finished upgrade to macOS Catalina 10.15.6.

While not a solution, a temporary workaround is to disable NLA:

I've confirmed this works. I also noticed the machine I'm trying to RDP in to needs many windows updates, trying that to see if updating resolves.

Hi

I had same problem.

Try to uninstall the RDP client v10.4.x.
Then install any client v10.3.x

https://install.appcenter.ms/orgs/rdmacios-k2vy/apps/microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac/distribution_groups/all-users-of-microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac

It woks for me.
