Excel is running slow and crashing (especially when using range plans)

Hello ,

Recently we are facing some issues in new intune AAD joined devices where Excel is running slow and crashing (especially when using range plans)

device: Surface Laptop 4
Operating system version
10.0.19042.1348

Can anyone help to get this sorted out please.

Can you elaborate? Are you pushing office apps, any specific configuration or security policies from Intune?

@ChakrabortySoumavoIT-5557 Thanks for posting in our Q&A. From your description, did you mean that Excel crash issue only occurs in the device that enrolled to intune? If there is anything misunderstanding, please correct me.

To clarify this issue, we appreciate your help to collect some information:
1.Please check if Excel works well in unenrolled device.
2.Did you set the XML configuration in Exploit Guard in the Security Baseline via intune?

@LuDaiMSFT-0289 Excel is working fine

It is only crashing when using the range plans

@RahulJindal-2267 We have deployed
Microsoft 365 Apps for Windows 10 and later

Attached is the screenshot.. Excel is working fine its only crashing specially when using range plans

@RahulJindal-2267 no error its working as expected, only issue is excel crashes when using range plans

@ChakrabortySoumavoIT-5557 Thanks for your update. Could you please clear the action "range plans"? If possible, please show some screen shots to clear it.

It is suggested to try some actions:
1.Please try to create an new excel on the device and then try to use range plans again to see if this issue still exists.
2.Please try to select the setting "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange(DDE)" under File > Options > Advanced. Then try the range plans action again.

If there is any update, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Hi,

I had a word with the user, the issue is its happening with the macro enabled file, whenever the the user is trying to hide the range Say more than 31 column at a time , the excel is not responding and crashing , which was not happening in earlier machine but it is being observed in intune managed laptop.
