i need help in deploying storage server in window server 2012 , is file server and storage srever both are same or different

    Hey,

    Depending on your goals (it would be great to hear detailed explanation), you can use various solutions. In case one server is used as a storage one and other should connect it you can deploy SMB file share on a storage server:

    Or you can use it as a iSCSI server. StarWind VSAN free can be used to create iSCSI target and connect it to the other server:

    Another option is to create a HA file server between both servers:

    What is the detailed usage of the file server? Provide shared location for clients to store share files or provide virtual disks for clients to connect?
