You can very well use Intune to inventory software on devices, one of the many benefits of Intune. Applies to Windows, macOS, Android and iOS/iPadOS.

However, there are stills ome limitations. There is a user wish: Inventory of -all- installed software not just the software deployed through Intune or from the Store.

This one is good since you are new to Intune. From Microsoft Learn. Short and concise interactive video:

Sure. You can view the list of installed apps (both managed and unmanaged apps) on the managed devices(Windows and Android). Intune will refresh the apps report every 7 days. By the way, please make sure the ownership of the managed devices in Intune are marked as Corporate, if it's Personal, only managed apps can be listed in the report. For how to change device ownership, please click this link. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/enrollment/corporate-identifiers-add#change-device-ownership
To view the installed apps for the particular device, you can choose Devices - All devices, click the device, and choose Discovered apps.

I have a question to expand on this. I utilized intune to remove software via script push and so far has been working but the problem I am running into is devices are still showing the software Installed under discovered software. Some of these devices the software was removed 3+ weeks ago but the discovered software isn't reflecting the removal. Is there a way to force reinspection of installed software.
i too am having the same issue. software that was removed months ago still show (more importantly - licensed software). devices still show older versions of the applications if they have been updated. for some third party apps it shows both an old version and a newer update - so am i correct in assuming this is just an aggregated list (adds new software it finds but does not update existing data in 'discovered apps'?
