I'm using an Azure machine as a domain controller. This morning it has automatically restarted 8 times. I have some users who are unable to get onto their shares because the dc isn't up while they log on. What to do? Here's the report;

    @Jim Taylor Did you patch the DC with this months cumulative update?

    If you have you will need to uninstall the patch then try below,

    The moment you first logon.

    • Immediately run command prompt, right click, run as administrator (just incase)
    • type in "net stop netlogon" (shows The Netlogon service was stopped successfully.)
    • Uninstall January patch
    • You must restart your computer to apply these changes (click Restart Now)

    As you see from the Summary, the restart is being initiated within the server. So, start the investigation within the Event Viewer of the computer.
    Within Event Viewer, select 'System' under windows logs. Right Click 'System' and select 'filter current log' and run a query to find the shutdown/restart events as below
    Event IDs I used are : 41,1074,1076,6005,6006,6008,6009,6013
    Evaluate each events and find the reason for the restart. Probably, the event registered before the restart event will reveal the clue on this issue

    I tried to do it really fast, but it's only giving me 40 to 60 seconds each time it restarts. I saw there were a bunch of warnings based on 6008 and reviewed them, but most said just generic things like 'the restart was unexpected'.

    I decided to sign up for support with Azure and I filed a ticket. I'll post when there's some resolution.

    Hello, try booting in safe mode and see if that allows you to stay on and investigate the logs file.

    Cheers,
