Remove AD domain address for Exchange users

Hi all,

We have an AD 2019 with Exchange 2019 CU11.
All of our users have a legacy email address formatted as sAMAccountName@domain.local which is not their default SMTP address of course.

I guess this email address is not related with UPN (which is same formatted) and I want to be sure I can remove email address policy related to this legacy format without impact.

Thank you.
Have a good day.

Hi @FXE-9887 ,

You could create a new email address policy to instead of the old one.

Need to create an accept domain Before you create the new email address policy

Follow below steps.

1.Go to mailflow- Accept domain.
2.Create a new accept domain.

3.Click email address policies.

Hi @AaronXue-MSFT and thank you for your answer.

There is already other email address policy set on our environment but the default one is currently "sAMAccountName@domain.local".
So I should just switch the default setting from email address policy to the other ?

Hi @AaronXue-MSFT,

As my aim is to remove the email address formatted like xxx@domain.local for most users but not all, is there a way to remove just this SMTP address for selected users ?

Thank you.

I've finally found a script to manage this ! (https://www.alitajran.com/bulk-remove-secondary-smtp-address-with-powershell/)
So all is right now.

Thank you for yous help.
